Speed of the computers very also. The speed on the 1995 PC is around 33MHz (Megahertz), while on the 2012 PC the Speed is 4,000 MHz+ with multiple cores and countless optimizations that can be added. Finally you have your hard drive. On the 1995 PC the Hard drive was 400 to about 500 megabytes. Then you have your 2012 PC's hard drive is around 1 Gigabyte, which is equal to 1,000 megabytes. This was just to show how Computer's continue to upgrade and advance to keep up with society's technological needs.
Next, a Computer system is a group of associated components that work together. Computer system components are categorized into two main groups; hardware and software. These components help the computer to run, and be able to perform the different task that we need it to. One component of the computer is the Hardware. Hardware is any part of the computer that has a physical structure, such as the; keyboard, monitor, mouse, Computer data storage and hard drive disk. Hardware also includes all of the computer's internal parts. One way to know if something is considered hardware is, if it can be physically touched then it can be considered hardware. Software is, any set of instructions that tells the hardware what to do. It is what guides the hardware and tells it how to accomplish each task. Software can be broken into two more categories; system software and application software. System software includes the programs that assist with the proper functioning of the computer. Application software includes the programs used to perform tasks.
Next, there are four basic operations of the computer, together these four operations make up the "Information Processing Cycle". The Information Processing Cycle includes; Input, Processing, Storage, and also Output. Input can take a variety of forms, from commands you enter by keyboard to data from another computer or device. An example of an input device could be obviously a keyboard but also a microphone or a scanner as well.
