Fee for Service, HMO, PPO, and POS Plans.
As my best friend is about to embark on her new career, she now has to decide what health plan she should choose. This needs careful consideration as what plan she obtains will ultimately affect how much her out of pocket expenses could be. Therefore when she considers which plan to go with she needs to take into account how much she earns and also her present health status. There is no point going with a plan if the premiums are unaffordable on her income. Although I do not know her income level, the fact that she is starting out in her first job leads me to feel that a Fee for Service plan also known as an Indemnity Care Plan would probably not be the most sensible choice. Although the advantages of this type of plan would mean that my best friend could see any provider she chooses in state or out of state, and there would be no waiting times to see any specialist as a referral is not needed, there is a price to be paid for this freedom.
