There was no reason to rush people where to clean the debris, but by doing so they endangered people's lives. Firefighters and other people did not have proper equipment to protect themselves from deadly toxins. Their main goal was to get business back on track, but not in the concern of public health. Their mantra was to get businesses and financial sectors back on track at any cost over people's health concerns. It took months before proper procedures and equipment were provided. Finally, respirators were provided to the people and they prevented the spread of contamination. However, there was a different story in Washington, D.C. where people working on the Pentagon site would not be allowed to work there unless they had protective gear and proper training. I am sure they tested these sites and made sure those senators, government officials, and others who worked there were safe before they were allowed to return there. This shows how government protects itself and the rest of its citizens.
It is mind boggling that the richest nation in the world refuses to help people who were sent to this disaster area. This was the worst terrorist attack on the American soil. Inability and unwillingness of government to take responsibility raises many questions. Many people who were in charge of these agencies should have never been in charge of them, as their qualifications did not suit their job requirements. The only requirement they met was to protect big corporations, like FEMA and EPA. This country sends billions of dollars in foreign aid overseas, yet can't find 10-15 billion of dollars to help people who cleaned up the site. USA government has plenty of will and money to bomb other countries into submission, to bring democracy, but no desire to help Americans deal with their domestic issues.
Governmental agencies did not test all the samples; they simply cooked data to make sure people would not panic.
