Sexual violence is a serious issue in the United States. It's like an illness sweeping the nation and alarmingly fast rate. Sexual violence has grown more than 50 percent in the past 6 months. The following schools are discussed in this paper: University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and Portland State University. All three universities have a policy on sexual violence. Each policy provides you with phone numbers to contact a crisis hotline or to receive support from an advocate. Some universities will provide an online submission for where you can submit information from an incident. Some universities have implemented a mandatory online course for students and faculty to help shine a light on sexual violence and show them that this is real and that it's happening. Sexual violence is an illness sweeping the nation. More importantly, it's infecting our schools. More often than usual you're hearing about someone going around campus sexually harassing random people or possibly targeted people. .
Sexual violence is not tolerated in schools which is why many colleges and universities have implemented a sexual violence policy which states resources and support groups for victims and survivors. Regrettably, sexual violence is seen in plentiful forms; Rape, sexual harassment, stalking, intimate partner/relationship violence, etc. According to The Washington Post, sexual violence in universities and colleges across the nation has grown fifty-percent since May 2014 (The Washington Post. Oct. 9, 2014.) The U.S. Education Office of Civil Rights has begun investigating these cases but more than 80 cases are pending at 85 schools. .
