Short Story - Love on the Turf

The school is really old. Been there since 1909 and certain areas of the school have been up since around that time. Like the old weight room.
             I love being in the weight room its tied up for my other number one favorite place. This is the start of my 7:00a.m workout. A caged in 30 feet by 21 feet weight room is what I see after I walk through a tightly squeezed long hallway. That had words and quotes on them all every where. It was kind of similar to a jail when they walk the inmate to their cell. Not scary like a jail though, its more like a relaxing stage before you step in the weight room. In the middle of the weight room we have different Olympic lifts with platforms that support the weights. On the wall there are three squat ranks that are also old. The Smell of this weight room smells like your ordinary basement. Somewhat like an old carpet being pulled up and the odor fills your nose heavily like when you jump into a pool and don't plug your nose. My 9th grade year I stayed in the weight room because I knew that my sophomore year I was going to be on a higher level. I end up starting as a wide receiver and a corner back. The weight room paid off tremendously in ways I didn't think it would. Until I got in the game going against bigger guys.
             My first game on varsity I was a sophomore, I looked into the crowd and everyone was having fun shouting out "Go Benson, Go!" They also was doing the famous crowd wave. Our team colors were green, black, and white. The whole stands were dressed up in those colors and always showed up at our games. Sitting through long hot and cold games a mental sometimes wet bench. The atmosphere seemed more lit up than ever and excited for us to play that night of my first varsity game. Big lights and a little mist in the air. Burgers and hot dogs were getting grilled to perfection, the smell of the food was so good it smelled as if there was a McDonald's in the stadium.
