The Crime of Cyberbullying

.
Cyberbullying is more than just sending a nasty comment on a social site; it can also be in the form of harassment, impersonation, and cyberstalking. Victims are targeted for various reasons, whether it is because of their race, religion, physical features, disabilities or disorders, or sexual orientation. People are now able to connect with other people whenever they want to, regardless of where they are in the world. While this does have positive effects, it has been more damaging to the youth of today because of cyberbullying. Most people use anonymity when they target and cyberbully someone. This makes consequences of their actions severely decrease because, even if their identity was uncovered, they could easily blame someone else (Morgan, 2013). Regardless as to whether or not the bully signs their name to the message, cyberbullying leads to the emotional trauma of the victims, sometimes ending in fatality. However, there are more than a few prevention methods that have been discovered through the years that parents, teachers, friends, and bystanders can use to help stop and eliminate cyberbullying.
             Who Cyberbullying Affects.
Male vs. Female. There are differences not only between the victims of cyberbullying, but also how males and females cyberbully. Both males and females participate in cyberbullying; however, females are more extensively inclined to cyberbully and typically aim at their own sex, whereas males do not victimize between the sexes (Morgan, 2013). Males tend to be more involved with physical violence and females are more involved with indirect forms of violence (Marcum et al., 2013). Females are less aggressive in face-to-face communication, thus cyberbullying allows them to be as aggressive as they want with little or no consequences. Females also partake more in gossiping and spreading false rumors than males do (Marcum et al., 2013).
             Appearance.
Cyberbullying occurs to thousands of people from different backgrounds for various reasons.
