Hollis Stacy once said that "I think people feel threatened by homosexuality. The problem isn't about gay people, the problem is about the attitude towards gay people. People think that all gays are Hannibal Lecters [serial killer]. But gay people are sons and daughters, politicians and doctors, American heroes and daughters of American heroes." Homosexuality has become a much bigger deal in the 21st century with regard to whether or not they have the right to marry or even if they are normal humans. Many believe that homosexuality is "immoral and unnatural" according to procon.org. However homosexuals are in fact people and they deserve the same respect as heterosexuals. There are different ways to show respect: respecting them for their decisions, giving them the right to marry whom they want, or treating them like the rest of the family. Some homosexuals are able to have the support from their family, but many are treated like they do not even exist. Some view homosexuals as if they are "different", but they are in fact normal people and deserve the same respect as heterosexuals.
Homosexuals have some of the same expectations in a relationship as heterosexuals do. For example, in Christine Schierholz and Cory Watts' 2 year relationship, Christine expects Cory to treat her with respect and how a girl should be treated. In an interview Christine said "I think people also have some expectations that aren't exactly good, like too high of expectations that are unreasonable." For example, if one person likes football then their partner should like football. One can not expect their significant other to like everything they do because then they will be searching for the right one for a while. In a homosexual relationship the same expectations are made. There should be loyalty, compassion, honesty, and respect. When asking Ryan Lofton and his boyfriend Troy of 1 year they said that their relationship is just like a heterosexual relationship.
