Across the nation, the birthrate in Texas has declined. It declined by 8% from 2012 to 2013. For the last two decades it was at its peak and after that it started declining. The decline resulted in decline of the young generation in Texas, who dominates in the educational, researching and social working departments, which is a big loss to the state of Texas. According to the statistics, 16% of children are uninsured in the state of Texas, as a result they don't get proper medical care which can lead to them going to unstable clinics that can be unhygienic, and can have uneducated medical staff, which in effect can cause for the children to be treated incorrectly. In case of emergencies, children uninsured may not get the required treatment which results into death of the child, a huge loss not just for the state but for the country. Other issues are children living in poverty. 30% of children live in poverty in the state of Texas. Poverty can create Toxic stress, which alters children's developing brains and bodies and is related to gaps in health and education. Poverty puts children into the wrong foot. Texas is the state that has lower income groups and poorest family groups in the nation. There are more rural areas, which include families having low incomes, and there is a high rich and poor gap. This means that people who are better off are being benefited living in the state and people who are not well off are facing challenges and their conditions are getting worst. Also the cause of uninsured children is lack of policies addressing the needs of the poor.
Texas's political culture also plays a role in these issues. The government is unable to make policies related to child insurance and suffers in the long run. Texas is ranked on 37th for per capita spending on Medical aid, which means it doesn't give importance to the children of the state. Its distinctive political culture has left many lives in danger.
