             1. The killing of river systems:.
             1.1 What problem is?.
Due to the increase of the population and changing in economic status, Vietnam is currently facing with a lot issues of water contamination. Specifically, the discharge of untreated wastewater containing many poisonous substances, which effect the environment detrimentally, especially Thi Vai river in the southern region, is not astonishing news to the local and media. Dating back to the 1990s, namely 1994 and 1995, the Vedan Company installed a specially designed system of wastewater treatment facilities in purpose (Xuân, 2008). The systems consist of multi-level pumps which include flexible valves leading to a secret pipelines system underlying the ground and then directly leading to Thi vai river (Xuân, 2008). Wastewater is transferred to the first bio-treatment ponds for treatment (A lost sense of, 2009). With a simple move on the control board, the entire wastewater will be released directly into Thi Vai river rather than going through the treatment system (Xuân, 2008). According to local people, this system only operated after midnight when people were asleep (Xuân, 2008). In the middle of 2006, Vedan Company also involved in another scandal when the Inspectors of Environmental Protection Department- Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment conducted an examination on various factories that were believed to be involved in Thi Vai river's pollution (Xuân, 2008). According to the inspectors, although Vedan had three modern systems of wastewater treatment, they were all built in purpose of dealing with the authorities and did not meet the required standard of treatment (Dirty trick, 2008). In 2008, Vedan Factory, poured out the chemical substances directly to the Thi Vai River without being treated. As a result, it caused the deaths of a great quantity of habitats in the river. Furthermore, the more untreated chemical substances are poured into Thi Vai River, the more diseases local people get (Nguyen, N.
