I want to able not to look at my phone while I am doing homework or studying. In my experiment, I will use two reinforcements to help me change my behavior by buying 2 blouses per week and going out every other Friday night to New York City with Jay. According to Edward Thorndike, "reinforcement is the process by which a stimulus increases the probability that a preceding behavior will be repeated" (178). I will comply with my reinforcements in order to be rewarded. If I failed to comply with my experiment the punishment will be, not to have lunch every Friday with Jay. According to Edward Thorndike, "to be punished means a stimulus that decreases the probability that a previous behavior will occur again" (180). I refuse to lose my chances on going out to have lunch with Jay. I will work really hard on my goals every week in order not to be punished. On the observation week, I noticed we text each other over 695 times from November 1 through November 7. Even though he had gone on vacation with this family we were still texting each other everyday. He went to Italy and it is like a 6-hour difference and we still found a way to be texting each other all day. At times, I would try not to text him at all, but I could not help my self. We just keep telling each other how much we missed each other and how bad we would like to see one another. Even though we told each other not to text too much since the time different it, did not matter. .
The first week experiment was very surprising due to the fact that I was able to control my texting for this week by 141. Even though, I doubted my self at the same time I was wondering if it was because he was in Italy. I was very pleased with the results that I reinforced my self with two blouses from forever 21 and I had a great Friday night with Jay. I was so excited that I had accomplished more that what I expected to in this week experiment.
