Texting - Behavior Modification Project


            
             In this project I will be discussing the changes in my texting behavior in accordance with the operant condition stated on Essentials of Psychology book on page 178-180. I will do this by, having reinforcement and punishment with help with the process of changing my texting behavior will do this by first having an observation week and them doing the experiment on myself.
             Introduction.
             In the good old days, I did not own a phone with unlimited texting options. I had to speak to everyone face to face on make a call on my device and sometimes I would send a reminder to my friends or family by text. Texting has become the new generation of me speaking with friends. Now, I have unlimited texting and I cannot get enough of it. I have noticed that I spend a great amount of my time on my phone and begin loosing concentration on everything else. Texting is an addiction that I need to get rid off. I will use the operant condition method by Edward L. Thorndike on my self in order to change my texting behavior. .
             I spend most of my time texting Jay while working, home, driving, mainly everywhere. Texting has become a must with this person. I meet this person at work. Most of my time, I find my self-waiting for a text from him or constantly texting him waiting for feed back. I see myself texting him from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed. We start texting each other at 6:30 in morning. I find myself constantly looking at the phone to see if he text me. It's just humorous due to the fact we work together. There is really no need to text each other so much at work, especially during the week. I find myself texting him more than 700 hundred times a week. We stay up texting until 2 am, even later on some days. I am losing sleep, concentration, importance of my homework and duties at work. .
             My goal is to decrease my texting by 30 texts per week until I am down to only texting 200 times per week.
