Biography of Al Capone


            The Infamous Alphonse Gabriel Capone once said, "Don't mistake my kindness for weakness, I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weak is not what you're going to remember about me." This essay is about his history, the facts, and his downfall. .
             Gabriel Capone, (Al's father) was one of many Italians who immigrated to America, Gabriel was a barber and was well educated, while Teresa stayed at home sewing to provide her husband and three children with an additional income. The Capone's were a normal, honest, hardworking, law-abiding family. On January 1899, a fourth child was conceived. Alphonse. At the age of 5, Al started school and due to the influence of his rough and tough neighbourhood Al, got himself kicked out of grade six for throwing a female teacher to the ground for disciplining him; this caused the Capone family to move. This move created the biggest exposure of crime to the young Capone. Johnny Torrio aka "papa Johnny" often paid young children pocket money including Al to run errands like stealing cigarettes for him, however even after all the exposure and time spent with Johnny, there was no indications that Al would end up living the life of a criminal.
             So how exactly did Al get his nickname "Scarface?" At the recommendation of Johnny, Al began working as a bouncer, waiter and bartender, the customers were quite fond of him, until one day he insulted a girl. The girl's brother Frank, pulled out a knife, and slashed his face three times before fleeing the scene. Capone later apologized. His close friends however called him snorky; which was short for elegant. Later that year, Al met a blonde Irish girl named Mae, they got married to each other at 19 after conceiving his one and only child Albert "Sonny" Capone, who he adored and cherished. Because of a new wife and kid he got a job at a bookstore for a couple years earning legitimate money.
