Machiavelli - Feared and Loved

Hitler without justifiable cause killed over millions of Jews eventually leading to events of WW2, which was lost by the Germany. This negligence on the part of Hitler led to his eventual capture, and suicide. Hitler is an example of what happens when a leader fails at being both feared and loved.
             Being feared and loved is effective because not only do people have the desire do obey you because they admire you, also because they obey out of fear of consequence. This can not only seen through political leaders but also through various coaches in sports. A player must have a connection with a coach much deeper than a fear of him. This is necessary because a player must understand and trust that a coach has the best interest of the team in mind when making decisions such as play calling, substitutions and game tactics. However it is very important that a player knows the repercussions of disobeying the coach and this is done through establishing fear into the mind of the player. A great example of this is Mr. Spangnoli, he is loved by his player because he nurtures the skill of his players and guides them to be the very best players they can be. However he makes it know what is expected on game day and if his desires are not fulfilled, it will result in tougher longer and less desirable practices. Unlike most leaders Mr. Spagnoli has been successful in his approach when leading a team and his is outlined by the success of the soccer team in throughout the history of St. Edmund Campion secondary school. This is a great example of the effectiveness that being feared and loved can have when done properly. .
             Being a loved leader is great because it make one admirable among the people. Though this may be the case this can quickly turn for the worse. An example of a leader who was loved and admired by his people is John F. Kennedy. He appealed to the people of his country his country; he was fairly young and had children when he had young children and was seen as to have been taking the united states in a new direction.
