Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice

            In Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet is the most dynamic character in the story. She starts as an immature young lady but in the end she is a mature woman that is less prideful. She changes when Darcy gives her the letter and she also changes when Lady Catherine comes and talks to her about not being allowed to marry Darcy and. This impacts her relationships with other people in various ways in that she is less prejudiced and less prideful. .
             Throughout the novel, Elizabeth likes to judge a person's character by the first impression she gets from them. Most of the time she is right. For example her first impression of Mr. Collins was that he was a solemn and awkward man. This turns out to be true and Elizabeth is repulsed by him and rejects his marriage proposal. One time Elizabeth completely misjudges a person's character, and that person is Darcy. Darcy acted distant and arrogant from everyone and Elizabeth takes this as if Darcy thinks he is better than everyone else and that he would never mingle with the common folk, like Elizabeth. At one point in the story Darcy and Elizabeth fight after Darcy reveals that he loves her. Elizabeth uses her prejudice to tell Darcy that she thinks he is an idiot for thinking that she will love him back. Her reasons for this are that he left Mr. Wickham by himself and that Darcy was the reason Jane and Mr. Bingley broke up. Darcy's reaction to this is telling her through a letter that Mr. Wickham had lied to Elizabeth and that he helped Wickham as much as he could but that Mr. Wickham kept trying to take his money. Also Darcy admits that he was the reason for Jane and Mr. Bingley's break up because he was doing it because he was trying to be loyal to his friend. After reading the letter explaining this, Elizabeth realizes that she completely misjudged Darcy's character and she calls herself despicable. She becomes aware that she let Darcy's bad manners make her think that he was a detestable man and she let Mr.
