As the definition above, it is noticeable that Technique skills are the most important to this first-level managers. Without Technique skills, it is impossible have a job. To be able to get hired and work at any organization, most people are required to have a particular knowledge about the area of the job they are would like to participate in. Since the ordinary workers' requirements, ones who are going to mange those employees are also expected to have the similar ability in order to drive the staff members to an accurate direction and reach the company's achievement. For instance, when civil engineers need to have ability to understand the architect's design and be able to know how and what are needed to build a building, their manager also must have a strong comprehension of that project, so that he can run the work of others effectively and efficiently. According to Katz (1955), Technical skills can also be understood as working with things and physical processes instead of people. "Things," are defined widely, which may involve others than just its obvious meaning. Besides, it is believed that the gap between the non-managerial employees and first-line manager is a thin line; therefore, promotion can happen to any employee once their technical skills' performance are meets or exceeds the company's expectation and be capable to guide other workers accurately.
While technique skills play the most critical role in the lower level of management, conceptual skills are regarded as having the least influence on this line. Based on its definition, having conceptual skills means managers need to have creative mental abilities to be able to observe the organization as a diverse entity and its extrinsic environment in order to deal with any intricate situation. It is clear that all managers even at low or high levels use these skills to make decisions. However, the first-line managers are more likely to work, to interact with employees rather than dealing with abstract circumstances, so that it is applied less frequently than other higher levels.
