Michael Moore's "Idiot Nation" focuses on the failure of the educational system by using his own past experiences. His text is intended to state his judgments. In doing this, he lacks the credibility and efficiency of a good writer. This isn't the type of writing that informs and persuades the audience by using facts and remaining impartial. The author highlights politicians and their neglect toward schooling. The author also attempts to manipulate the reader into believing what he thinks is weakening the educational system in America. The author then gives examples of stupidity in America and leads the reader to believe this is the general behavior. After attacking politicians for having flaws, the author then goes on about how disappointed he is with the country and how he believes that corporate involvement with schools only damages the system and society. The author then explains how corporations use marketing tactics to establish their brand inside of schools, and finally, he blames the schools for seeking corporate funding and the government for not giving enough money to schools. Moore's humorously skewed views and ideas on education are the reason why his excerpt is biased and inaccurate. Even though our educational system is not perfect and has flaws like any other system, it empowers citizens; it is helped by the aid of the private sector and it is in good standing compared to previous times. .
Education is the key to personal growth; it empowers the human race. Whether people educate themselves in public libraries or spend several years of their life attending school, people are only able to grow if they acquire knowledge. It is no surprise that most of the leaders throughout history, almost all the entrepreneurs and even the villains in society, were only able to succeed in their field because they had to acquire knowledge; they had educated themselves one way or another.
