Table Talk

A casual passerby is most likely to overlook an eatery that opened its doors about a year back in the quaint Kohsar market. Canopied by the foliage of pink bougainvillea, "Table Talk" beacons visitors because of its warm ambiance and friendly atmosphere. The owners are always there to greet every customer and entertain their every whim. Terracotta walls lined with picturesque paintings and photographs add to the pleasant atmosphere that the owners have tried to create. The place is frequented mostly by ladies of about middle age, foreigners or people who want to get away from the madness of every day life, to have a quite meal. .
This little eatery is the brainchild of Riffat and Wafa, who after meeting at a party decided to open this place. Wafa had just closed down Gup Shup, a small eatery with an adjacent studio to display the works of emerging artists. The place did not fare well with Isloohites and had to be closed down after nearly a year and a half of its inception. Wafa wanted to start another venture and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity. The launch of Table Talk was without formal advertising, partly because of budget constraints and partly because the owners didn't want to commercialize the place too much. But the result is that people generally don't know about Table Talk. One of the reasons for this is probably because Kohsar market is not the first preference of people when it comes to shopping. This can be because of the limited number of shops it has and the fact that it isn't situated in a densely populated area of Islamabad, but mostly because it carries the impression of being a market that is visited by foreigners and therefore people consider most of the shops to have exorbitant prices. Although the price range offered by Table Talk is in line with other such eateries in Islamabad, the impression of people who know about the place is that it's expensive.
