The Benefits of Watching Television

Many will be surprised that I listed SpongeBob in the list; in reality Sponge Bob has a lot of lessons in it. It teaches kids that even though jellyfish is a beautiful creature, one has to be careful with it as it will give one electrical shock. When a child sees this definitely the child will ask why that happened. This is where the role of the parent or elderly comes into play as they will explain to them that it is how they protect themselves from danger. The episode where SpongeBob tries to obtain a driving license by enrolling into a driving school can educate kids to obey the law and to do the right thing and even tell them that even they (mom and dad) have their driving license plus they can even show their kids their license. This maybe a petite issue and parents will think that my child is still small to know this but in contrary, this action will give them the awareness that they have to follow rules in order to be safe. The sooner their parents let them know that there are rules in the world, the less problem they will have when the child grows and becomes a teenager. Another lesson that can be learned from that episode is determination. It is shown that it is not the first time that SpongeBob is enrolling into driving school; he has taken it many times. Even though the writer wrote it in a hilarious way, parents can take this as an example and tell their child that they should not give up easily and continue to work harder and repeat the deed until they've achieve what they want. Based on the evidence above, it is clear that even in a simple cartoon we are able to learn valuable lessons. It's just the matter of point of view. Television networks are also doing their part in educating the young but they need help from parents and society to point the lessons out because if they (network) were to make every lesson obvious, the program will be dull and will have a poor rating.
