Four months ago, I went through a very hard time here at Morehouse College. Almost everything I owned was in there. Items such as my laptop, textbooks for classes, wallet, etc. was in my book bag at the time of it being stolen. When this was all stolen, I went into an extremely deep depression. Perhaps the most important item I didn't have any more was my state ID. Since I didn't have my ID anymore, I had a very hard time trying to get things done off campus. My ID being stolen was the reason why I wasn't able to get money out of my debit card. .
Companies and establishments should be more lenient to those who don't have an ID. First, everyone should realize that life happens. Transportation Security Administration understands when someone loses their wallet and can't show their identity. Other companies and business establishment should do the same. There are other ways to tell how someone truly exists in the US. Some people are so used to "doing their job" that they don't work with people whenever a huge problem occurs. .
For example, I went to Wells Fargo about a month ago. I had no wallet because it was stolen. In that wallet was my state ID and expired debit card. Luckily, I had my social security card and birth certificate. I immediately thought if I brought documents verifying my age and residence, I would be okay. When I got there, I realized my assumption that everything would be okay was proven incorrect. They wouldn't let me take money that I desperately needed out of my account solely because I didn't have an ID to show them. Most people would think that employers of certain companies would understand enough to work with others when life happens. On that day, it didn't work out. The reason why I had to go to Wells Fargo is because my sister's car was sent here to Atlanta. The person who brought the car to Atlanta from New York needed to be paid five hundred fifty dollars. I let my dad know that over five hundred dollars needed to be paid.
