The Casey Anthony Trial

The police weren't the only ones lied to though. Casey had told her mom at different times during the month, Caylee was missing that she was visiting places such as Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios when little Caylee was already dead. (Tresniowski 69) On July 16, 2008 Casey Anthony was arrested for the first time due to the fact that she had given false statements to law enforcement officers. In jail, Casey's guard had much to say about her. He stated that Casey always talked about "wanting to do normal things," such as haircuts, manicures, and eating good food. He also said she had a "love-hate relationship" with the notoriety as an accused murderer. The guard said that Casey stated that part of her was thrilled that the people were paying so much attention to her but she really hated that the media chose the ugliest pictures of her. (Helling 83) .
The defense has three different claims to the case. Casey's attorney admitted that the baby sitter, Zenaida Gonzalez, who supposedly kidnapped Caylee, was all a lie told out of fear. He claimed that on June 16, 2008, Caylee unfortunately drowned in the family swimming pool. The second claim was that George Anthony, Casey's father, sexually molested her as a child. George denied all accusations. Jurors couldn't find the truth in the claim though. Jurors wondered why Casey would allow George around Caylee so often knowing that he was abusive. The third claim the defense stated was about a local meter reader named Roy Kronk, accused of moving Caylee's body. (Helling 54) .
Throughout the case different organizations tried to help search for Caylee but none of them found anything. Later in 2008, word was sent out for anyone with information on Caylee's whereabouts to call the tip line at the Orange county sheriff's office. Roy Kronk called in December of 2008 and told the tip line that he had found some bones in the woods wrapped in the blanket.
