Unfortunately, three students were severely wounded because they thought the guns were paint ball guns and decided to walk towards Dylan and Eric, one of the students later died. .
As they boys walked the halls shooting they also threw small bombs throughout the school. Still unsure if the boys were serious or playing a prank, many students continued to walk in the boy's direction. As one could imagine, many of those students were the students who sustained serious injuries. However, Dave Sanders, the teacher covering for lunch duty, knew the boys were out for blood and tried to evacuate the students into the main school building and hide. As students began to realize the severity and dangerous nature of what was transpiring they began to flee the cafeteria and running into the west wing of the high school building where many of the classrooms and library was located. As he was escaping the cafeteria, just as he approached the nearest classroom Mr. Sanders was shot in the back three times. .
At 11:29 am, the boys entered into the library where many of the students were hiding under the tables. One of the boys allegedly, screamed for everyone to stand, no one complied. Both boys then went on a shooting spree. According to a survivor, the boys were looking under tables saying "peek-a-boo", and then shooting at students. The boys also shot out the windows in the library and shot at students running for rescue injuring two students. After spending approximately, 7 minutes in the library, the boys had killed 10 people and injured 12 others. The boys walked the halls randomly shooting out windows and firing at first responders who were outside. Eventually, around 12:05 the boys proceed back to the library where they fatally shot themselves, ending the massacre. The reason behind such a horrific ordeal will never be known, however many people blamed violent video games, music, the boy's parents for not knowing something was wrong with them, and some blamed the school for allowing the boys to be bullied.
