Adam, Eve and the Book of Genesis

Genesis allow us to see God as our maker and a powerful man. He is a powerful king in that he makes the rules and we are made to follow them, though our sins often get in the way of that. We are able to see how giving God was toward Adam and Eve, how he gave them an endless supply of food, love, and shelter. However, we also see his firmness and disappointment when Adam and Eve disobey him, much like a stern father would. He punishes each of them when they disobeyed him by eating the fruit, or when Abel killed Cain. Like most good fathers he scorns his children and punishes them when they sin, or go against his wishes, he is also a forgiving father. After Cain killed his brother God was outraged, but he still protected Cain from others killing him. This shows his kind and forgiving heart as he sets out to protect him.
What does Genesis tell us about human beings? This story brings to light our very existence, our happiness, and our sorrows. God made us from dust, a basic element with no specialty to it, but when he breathed into the nostril it became man. Because God had breathed his own breathe into man we then became special. We are made from his breathe this could also be a reason we are more complex than any animal in the world. God made Adam before Eve, this could be why man in history have taken care of woman and protected her rather than the other way around. The tree of knowledge of good and evil represents the curiosity that humans have toward temptation and how many are drawn to it and can't stay away. God made Eve out of Adams rib when he put Adam into a deep sleep. This is probably the first written evidence of surgery and God had used something like anesthetic to put Adam under, much like we still do today. The fact that he made Eve from Adams own flesh shows that we are cut from the same cloth, I also find that because Eve was made from Adams rib, it shows that man were not made to walk in front on woman or behind them, but rather side to side as one.
