Creating the Intelligent Vehicle

One of the most common (and sometimes most frustrating) problems about living in a heavily populated urban environment is parking your car in a tight parking space. Seldom do you ever find cars from these types of neighborhoods have bumpers in good condition due to the face that drivers may unintentionally back up or go too far forward into somebody's car. The answer to this common problem is to eliminate the second to biggest factor on hand, which is the driver's sense of distance. Sensors placed inside the bumpers (commonly known as backup sensors) use radar in order to find out how much distance you have from somebody's car. A repeated chime is then played through the doors speakers as you approach the other vehicle. As you get closer, the chime speeds up and eventually goes to a solid noise indicating you are too closer and you need to move forward to prevent damage.
The main reason for this mishap to happen in these dense urban area's is simply "the human error". The human error as defined by collinsdictionary.com is stated as "an error that is typical of humans rather than machines". Car companies have understood and recognized this problem and created a car that can parallel park itself by utilizing two vital components. One of them is the backup sensors in the rear bumper and front bumper. The second component is an electrical steering system. This system differs from that of a typical steering system because a hydraulic pump (commonly known as a power steering pump) cannot be used to turn the steering wheel by itself. Driver input is needed in order to actuate the hydraulic pressure of the pump. The benefit an electrical steering system in this situation is that the computer of the car can send necessary voltages to the steering system automatically using information from the rear and forward sensors of the car and reference the front wheels accordingly without any driver input needed.
