I will infuse elements of enthusiasm, zest and energy into my classes for it to spark innovation within my classroom. With the aim to provide an environment that is conducive for learning, I will incorporate my lessons with activities to create a fun learning environment I believe the relationship the students have with the subject of study, with the teacher and with other students in class are the three objectives that inspire a student's involvement towards the subject. .
Discipline Within a Media Studies Classroom .
In Media Studies, students are exposed to the creative usage of communication technologies and digital materials throughout the class. With the need to use various learning platforms including television, film, radio, newspaper, the internet and different media equipment's to ensure students gain the necessary knowledge and skills, it is highly important that to create a classroom environment with discipline in order for students to stay on task while enjoying the learning process of this subject. From the one week Observation period we underwent as Pre-Service Teachers, I noticed that the main issues faced in a media studies classroom is the constant talking, unwillingness to participate in classroom activities, being disrespectful by talking over the teacher and the continuous need to use inappropriate language in class. As media studies is a rather 'laid-back' subject, students come into class expecting no formal teaching to take place. As such, students find it quite hard to sit through a formal lesson when the theory teaching of media studies comes into place. .
I believe students should be responsible of their behavior, actions and choices. With the help of school rules, students should be able to make a decision that will benefit them the most. I would chose to practice according to William Glasser's Choice Theory which explains that one always has the choice of how to behave.
