The argument about sex education (if it should be taught in school or not) is still controversial, most especially in religious and conservative areas. However, most of the areas in United States are teaching sex education in schools. I know some people at age of thirteen, he or she did not take sex as an ordinary thing because of the influence of media and the people around him or her. Many sexually active teenagers are educated about the dangers of unprotected sex, STD's and so on. Therefore, engaging young teens to try and have sex since it has been viewed by teenagers as the norm. Due to its very sensitive topic, Sex education should not in school.
Sex is a very delicate issue. Parents and teachers should be aware of what kind of information should be given to the children. Supporters of sex education, on the contrary, point out that it should be taught at school. Furthermore, they state that it will increase awareness among young teenagers. However, most children are curious. If they learn something new, they might apply "it" and can cause huge problems for the child. There is one article in BBC news that a 13-year-old girl was raped in school by her schoolmate after sex education class. This proves that too much knowledge can harm other people. Sex education should have more rules and regulation because there are some factors that can affect the decision making of an individual, and there is nothing wrong when a person is not ready for having an intercourse. (Kevin Riley and Krauth-Mackenzie,43). Therefore, sex education in school is not that beneficial to teenagers.
Statistics shows that there are roughly 48+ percent of abortion are from young adolescents (Henshaw). Those in favor of sex education in school alleged that it would lessen the abortion rate. They also argue that there is a decline in teenage pregnancies for the past decades in United States. On the contrary, United States still has the highest rate of teenage pregnancy in the west (Gale).
