It was a perfect summer afternoon in sweet southern California. I had just made it back home from my daily jog around the block when I noticed the U-Haul truck parked outside of the house next door. My mom was standing on our front porch with one of her famous casseroles calling for me. She handed me the dish and told me to take it to our new neighbors to welcome them into the city. I knocked on the door and a tall handsome boy with thick brown hair and bright blue eyes answered. He told me that his name was David and that he going to be enrolling into Richwood High this coming up school year. I tried to reply back to him but all I could do was stutter, so I handed him the casserole and walked back home. That night I laid in bed hating myself for acting like a total idiot in front of him. There I lay, wondering what I was going to do to make David like me. .
After a few days of watching David unload boxes from the U-Haul, I finally gained the courage to talk to him. I knew that I had to look my best this time, so I put some makeup on and fixed my hair the best that I could and put on my cutest outfit. Shortly after giving myself a pep talk in the mirror, I ambled right next door and found David. I felt my muscles start to tense up, and my heart is racing. Remembering what I had told myself in the mirror, I loosen back up and approach him. I apologized about the other day and introduced myself to him. I will never forget the way he looked at me with his crooked smile. After two hours of talking about ourselves, we became good friends. .
Throughout the summer break, David and I became really close; we were like brother and sister. Although I had strong feelings for him, I couldn't tell him how I really felt about him because I didn't want to ruin our friendship. School started a few weeks later; he was a senior and I was a sophomore. I had not gotten my permit yet but David had his license already so he drove me to and from school everyday.
