Mongols and Islamic Powers in the Middle East

Thus allowing for a broad arrangement of contacts with the likes of the Christian states such as the principality of Antioch and a different kind of impact with other Muslim powers, allowing for a great deal of Mongol significance in the Middle East. .
Genghis khan was arguably the starting factor in what made the Mongols so significant in the Middle East. This can be seen by his unification of the Mongolian tribes that allowed for the conquering of large swathes of East Asia including large important parts of china such as Beijing. The importance of this is it allowed for a series of large powerbases that could be a consolidated and able to raise forces which can be seen in the Turks and Chinese auxiliaries becoming part of the Mongolian forces mainstay army, put into a command of a single "tumen" and remained there. So this allowed for the expansion to the west to deal with the Khwarizmian's who had insulted and , in the eyes of Genghis Khan , declared war by assaulting a trade caravan as well as executing diplomats who had come to get compensation for those actions in 1218. This allowed for the Mongol empire to expand. This led to the Mongols coming into direct influence of Islamic and Christian states in the Middle East. This suggests that Genghis Khan and his Mongol forces were already affecting the spheres of Middle Eastern power. Besides some raids and massacres on the borderlands of Islam, Genghis Khan did not invade far into the Muslim world of the Middle East at this time "and abandoned any attempt to venture west of Persia." This meant in reality the free trade was starting to become a true and possible notion with the existence of the silk road already proving it to be true, but was not in reality ready to become the well-known established trade line. .
