Both in the world and in every community, we need to have peace. All human beings share the same needs, and there are many ways that we can make our community peaceful and spread this around the world. We don't always need a big group to make a difference. The smallest groups can start making change and it can spread to others. One thing I think is needed to create a more peaceful world and community would be by seeking to love - not to control others. Trying to control others for one's own benefit, will cause conflicts with others. Reducing control by listening to everyone's opinions, and hearing what they have to say, is going to broaden the approach of love of others. Everyone is going to have his or her own opinions. No matter what their opinions are, we have to respect what they are saying, even when we don't agree with their opinions. We also need to look as the good qualities in people, not just their bad qualities. Another thing that I think that needs to be done to make peace would be to place "peace before power." If we learn to "control" other people through a threatening behavior, demeanor or actions, peoples subjected to our power will be responsible out of coercion, not out of respect or care for us. This is not a peaceful way to live. Everyone will have their opinions on certain subjects and we have to control ourselves to hear their ideas. Gandhi had always said that, "Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent than the power gained through threat of punishment." In today's world, everyone needs to be tolerant. Tolerance in all that we think and do is going to make a difference in our lives, and the lives around us. Tolerance for others is appreciating the diversity, the plurality of modern society, and the willingness to live and let others live too. When we fail to tolerate others' beliefs, ways of being and opinions, the ending result can and will be discrimination, repression, dehumanizing, and ultimately violent.
