Homosexuals and the Right to Love

When two people are in love they seem to go together perfectly like a horse and a carriage. Marriage is defined as "a ceremony in which two people are united to each other." Many would argue about the definition of marriage. Some people may say marriage is specifically a relationship in which a man and woman are united and others would say it is the relationship in which two people that love each other are united no matter their sex. According to the article Same Sex Marriage, "same sex marriage has been widely discussed and debated on if it should be legalized or not." Like the "52% of Americans", I believe "it is discriminating not to allow two people who want to get married their right to marry just because they are homosexual" (Same). Marriage should be for those that love each other and truly plan on spending their lives together because they are perfect for each other like a horse and a carriage so denying anyone the right to marry their significant other would truly be unethical.
Everyone should have the right to marry the person they love without being discriminated. The 1967 Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia confirmed that marriage is "one of the basic civil rights of man," and same sex marriages should receive the same protections given to interracial marriages by that ruling (U.S). This law states that "same sex couples should be allowed to publicly celebrate their commitment in the same way as heterosexual couples" (Gay). Everyone deserves to have their dream wedding whether it is celebrating it with a big party or just having a small dinner with their loved ones. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation states that many same sex couples "want the right to legally marry [and] honor their relationship in the greatest way our society has to offer" (Gay). Most of the rights and privileges.
that go with marriage are, in fact, ways to help spouses support each other.
