Unsafe and Unclean Hospital Conditions


The negative air pressure in the room allows air to get into the room, but no air can be escaped. Proper protocol and regulations have been in place nationwide for years. They have contributed to a decrease in nosocomial infections by killing microorganisms that can cause these infections. These protocols are not in place for nothing, they should be followed by all staff and consequences should be enforced if not taken seriously. Regulations can change at any time, therefore infection control specialists should inform all staff of any and all modifications. Regulations and protocol can vary from hospital to hospital, but all do exactly the same thing, reduce chances of acquiring and spreading infection. .
             Awareness and federal funded projects of also proven to minimize nosocomial infections. A film called A Silent Epidemic has gotten praise from USA Today and was shown at the 2012 Providence College Student Film Festival, where the film won first place (Croke). It was directed by Emily Croke. The film was about the death of her father in 2008, her freshman year in college. Her father died due to a hospital acquired infection. Government agencies and universities have also done their part in lowering rates of infection.              Making sure that surfaces are sanitized is also a component in preventing the spread of infection. Though crucial, this practice is usually overlooked.
