             I believe an environment that encourages administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community members to work together and fosters open communication is essential. Students benefit when educators model teamwork, capitalize on community resources, and share expertise. .
             Providing a Positive Role Model.
             I feel that student attitudes are a reflection of their teacher's attitude. Teachers, who have a positive attitude and are excited about learning, ignite a spark within their classroom.
             Building Community within the Classroom.
             I believe that a classroom is a community. All members should feel safe, welcome, and supported. A teacher is a responsible for helping develop life skills and providing them with the opportunity to put the skills to work within their classroom community. Teamwork, patience, flexibility, and caring are just a few skills that students should develop to become better member of their community. .
             Setting High Expectations.
             I believe that educators who expect quality work from their students will receive it. Setting high expectations of student performance and then providing them the necessary tools to reach their goals helps students experience success. .
             Partnering with Parents.
             Parents should have an active role in their child's education. They are key influences in their child's life. As an educator, it is my responsibility to build relationships with students' parents, keep them informed, and give them tools to nurture their child's academic growth. .
             Reading as the Foundation.
             I believe that reading is the foundation of education. Once students have learned to read, literacy instruction should not end. It is my responsibility to help guide students to realize that with reading they can accomplish anything. .
             Creating Life-Long Learners.
             Learning is an ongoing process that continues after formal education. As an educator, it is my job to help students discover the excitement of learning while providing them with the strategies to obtain their own information.
