Animal testing is a subject which has been opposed by millions of people for a number of years. I am personally completely against animal testing as I believe it is an act of cruelty, not science. Animal testing results in the death of 1.4 million a year. This is a staggering figure itself but to think that many of these animals were killed in a painful way is ridiculous. The unforgiving nature of these experimenters is not the way animals should live their lives. I believe animals shouldn't be used for such purposes in order to help humans relieve pain and suffering because in turn they experience pain and at times death. Many argue that animals are not on the same level as humans however they shouldn't be harmed even if they are not morally equal. They possess just as much sentiment as us so we have no right to expose them to cruelty in the form of testing. .
People including scientists argue that they are only using animal testing for the benefit of the human race, but I believe that we do not have the right to take animals from their homes and use them for research. The vast amount of pain enforced by scientists is outrageous and this leads me to think that animal testing as a whole is more cruelty than science. Pain takes over their bodies and they can do nothing about it. Firstly, they are kept in horrific conditions by the people who take them for medical purposes. These small, helpless animals are stuffed into small boxes restricting movement. What would happen if humans were treated in a similar fashion? It would spark controversy around the planet, however animal testing slips under the radar due to the claims it is done for medical research. The outcome of this research has been limited in recent years, although the suffering for animals has been quite the opposite. Animals are tied down in completely unnecessary ways which are bordering on criminal offences if done by an ordinary civilian claiming they were doing "research.
