Greenpeace has played its part in trying to attract the attention of all the masses to the environment and climate change throughout history. Greenpeace has even taken their usual methods to the extremes by launching a blimp-like aircraft from a field along Portland's Million Dollar Highway to direct people's attention from the coal-burning power plant along River Road. The aircraft banner read: "If you can read this, you are breathing coal pollution." As they say all publicity is good publicity" it is good in this case because it is one of the only ways to attract people's attention. I am ambivalent about Greenpeace for a range of reasons. .
The reasons why I am in favour of Greenpeace protesting using unique methods is because if they do not use unusual methods they would not be able to deliver their message as efficiently as possible around the globe. Greenpeace states "Greenpeace remains unique and effective because of our willingness to bear witness to environmental injustices and to take peaceful direct action to expose global environmental problems and to bring solutions that ensure a green and peaceful future." There is evidence from research that Greenpeace have been using peaceful protests since 1971. I think that this is right because the world is reaching record temperature levels and if people continue being careless about this issue than this will cause global catastrophe. In my opinion it is better for Greenpeace leading to conflict rather than all the people dying at once just because of them being careless about the environment. As many as 150,000 people get killed every year due to climate change, and this is because of people being careless and not making small changes in their lives to solve these complications. These are the reasons why I am for Greenpeace protesting using unexpected methods because they are doing it for a good cause and for our own good.
