Schools and Mandatory Physical Education

We are living in a world when only the strongest survive and the weak get trampled on. Parents do not make the time to spend with their children going to the park; children get their fun and fill their days on computer games or sat in front of a TV for hours. I think Physical Education has to be compulsory in schools as without it our children's future and generations to come will suffer for it meaning that we will all just be fat sitting in front of the TV not able to do anything on our own. Research has shown that anyone who exercises regularly improve their general health as well as helping them to have a positive outlook in life. Studies show it helps to prevent heart disease and other illness such as high blood pressure and osteoporosis (brittle bones). I understand some people find it difficult to take part in P.E. due to health problems such as diabetes, asthma or physical disabilities but the word physical does not necessarily mean high impact or exertion. .
People's involvement in P.E. improves their knowledge about health issues and practices that will lead to a better and more enjoyable lifestyle. P.E. can teach people life skills such as determination, motivation and being a team player as well as keeping them healthy. Through P.E. people can have a better knowledge of many different sports and P.E. can help people to see what sports they enjoy and what they are best at. In my opinion pupils who do not take part in P.E. will be more likely not to be physically active when they become adults. By not teaching children about being physically active this will add to the problems of obesity such as diabetes, heart disease and they could have a bad mindset in life.
Some people think that taking part in P.E. puts you at a higher risk of injury than those in academic classes. This statement I agree with but if you do not take part in P.E. you could have more life threatening diseases such as a stroke or blocked arteries that might contribute to a person's death.
