Ever since I was a little kid I have always enjoyed playing baseball. Hi my name is Jim and I am the closing pitcher for my high school baseball team. During my freshman season I realized how much talent I had when I was promoted to play varsity instead of on freshman. Now lets fast forward to my senior year, where I have a lot of the same worries on my mind as every other senior college, girls, and popularity.
To start our season, we played the defending state champions at home. During the game I tried to focus my mind on the game, and before I knew it a call was made. The call was for me to warm up, the score was 3-2 in the top of the ninth. I was astonished we were ahead, I was on pure adrenaline and it didn't matter how much I warmed up. My arm was feeling the best it ever has in the past. As I threw the ball around, I saw my dad, who was my biggest fan.
I stopped warm ups as dad came up to me and said, "There are three college scouts and a pro scout here to watch you! "I replied, "How do you know they are here for me? ".
"Because they asked who your parents were and are now sitting with us. ".
As he walked away I started to think and realized I must've been good if all these scouts came to watch me. However I knew I had to focus on the task at hand. The bottom of the ninth came and I delivered two quick outs and now faced their best returning hitter. I had a 3-2 count on him. He was focused on my fastball because he had just smashed one foul the last pitch. I call time to discuss strategy with my catcher. I told him what I was going to throw no matter what; my slider. The slider is a pitch which starts way inside on right handed hitters and sweeps across the plate into the left handed batters box at the last second. I think it's the best pitch I throw. When I threw it, the pitch looked the best it ever has because it worked! I struck him out and we won the game! My teammates went crazy and mobbed me on the mound.
