            Diabetes Mellitus is a disorder in the pancreas of metabolism, which is caused by hyposecretion of insulin. In type one diabetes, this occurs mostly in children, and type two diabetes, it mostly occurs in adulthood. Symptoms include: blurry vision, itchy skin, fatigue, headache, slow healing of cuts and bruises. Long term symptoms: numerous amount of skin rashes, and glucose absorption in the eyes causing change in shape and vision. The digestive tract breaks down carbohydrates into glucose, however when having diabetes, glucose builds up in the blood because of the lack of insulin or insulin is not being used effectively. With an increase of the hormone insulin it affects cells throughout the body can absorb glucose for energy. Treatments to diabetes include the following Self- Monitoring of Blood Glucose (SMBG) is important to evaluate the short-term glycemic control and Hemoglobin A1c which is related to blood glucose concentrations. Prognosis in type one diabetes patient is, they have good health however, an increased risk of blindness, end-stage renal disease, and cardiovascular disease. Also maintaining the blood glucose, blood pressure and weight is an important factor. Patients with type two diabetes have a risk of die with a heart disease, a higher chance of getting a cardiovascular disease, and a 15 percent of getting a stroke.
             Gigantism is caused by hypersecretion of human growth hormone (hGH). This disorder is located in the pituitary gland. Gigantism occurs in childhood and adolescents, affects both male and female equally, however it is very rare and mostly is mistaken for acromegaly. Symptoms include delay in puberty, double vision, increase of sweat, and larger hands and feet with thickening of fingers and toes. Females with gigantism have irregular menstrual cycle and release of breast milk. Gigantism is caused by a pituitary tumor gland, pea-sized pituitary gland is located at the base of your brain, which makes hormones that control many functions in your body.
