Epic heroes often seek fame, unlike modern heroes. Modern heroes accomplish great deeds because it either feels good to them or it is their job. One of the biggest differences between epic and modern heroes consists of their physical abilities. Heroes, these days, do not have to rely on the use of physical capabilities to accomplish great deeds. Although the two heroes Hercules & Superman are both characterized for their strength, their personalities and super powers differ significantly. While Superman can fly and has x ray vision, Hercules only has strength.
Hercules, the hero that strangled two deadly snakes as a baby, grew to be eight feet tall as a teen, fought bloodthirsty monsters, rescued beautiful ladies and dressed in a lion's skin as an adult was the world's first superhero.
