Analysis - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

By comparison, Neville Longbottom who is only raised by his grandmother (single parent model) and Draco Malfoy who is being taught with wrong lessons are the damaged children.
Furthermore, Rowling didn't give the chance to the readers to decide if one character is good or bad for certain reasons. For instance, Lord Voldermort is the evil character because he has done a lot of harm by choice. Readers cannot think he did it because he had an unhappy childhood or because he was misunderstood. Voldemort is evil because he decided to be mean and socializing with bad people has never been good.
So, is this novel teaching good or critical citizen values? Does he fight against Lord Voldemort because he is the good character or by choice? In my estimation, Harry Potter is a conservative work and that means it teaches a lot of good values which is also very interesting but the negative point is that hardly brings on the chance to look at things from a different perspective and reader's criteria is almost not needed at any time. I find very interesting how the four elements are represented through the Hogwarts houses. The House of Ravenclaw, which has an eagle as a symbol, is easily associated with the element air, as all uses of air in magic correspond to intelligence. Moreover, their common room is specifically described as being wide and airy with great views to outside. Gryffindor is associated with fire since it has a lion as a symbol. This animal symbolizes courage, bravery and nobility. The Gryffindor Common Room is situated in the tower and all the furniture has a reddish touch. Hufflepuff is categorized with the element earth. They have a badger as a symbol, a hard-working, tenacious and sociable animal that has some characteristics associated with the earth signs. And Slytherin represents the water. It has a snake as a symbol a swift, deadly creature that can cause harm but still can escape unnoticed.
