My family is something that I value greatly. They play a big part in my life and have taught me lots of values and lessons. I think nature is another big part of my life that I value. I think that we need to appreciate nature more and see more of it. Religion also plays a major role in my life; I would consider my belief in God to be my value center. I believe that God created the heavens and the earth and that all of nature is a gift of beauty from God. It is our job to be good stewards to nature. I think that we have to take care of nature and do the best we can to conserve and protect it. I believe that we need to leave this planet better than it was when we were born. I have spent a lot of time out in nature with my family, camping, hiking, and other activities. I have spent a lot of time out in nature, I love fishing and it makes me appreciate nature even more. I have been especially privileged to be able to go camping as much as I have. I have learned to always leave a spot better than you found it. My family is all farmers and has a great respect for the land. I get to see how nature produces crops and how water and soil play a big part in our lives. .
In central California we are going through a major drought. Our drought is from lack of rain and our water table drying up. Until February 6, 2014 central California had not had any rain for 56 days. We are having the biggest drought since 1977. We need this rain so that farmers and ranchers can water their crops and livestock. Another reason is air quality; we need the rain to take all the dust and dirt out of our air. The rain also impacts our salmon that run up and down the rivers. During the spring time the salmon fry swim down the rivers and into the ocean where they can mature. Without any rain the water levels in our rivers will drop to low for the salmon to swim out into the ocean. This will have an enormous impact on out environment.
