Modern-Day Sweatshops

This would bring thousands of jobs back to the US along with revenue. Another thing that could be done is to enforce more strict laws on the work conditions and wages of workers at factories. This could become a huge blessing for poverty stricken countries and their people, while keeping product manufacturing fairly low. There are many solutions to this problem they just need to be explored and accepted open mindedly. .
There are many different opinions when it come to the use of textile sweatshops in other countries. The most common opinion is against the use of sweatshops in any manufacturing. This is based off of facts along with pictures and even interviews of works in sweatshops. According to a report done by the International Textile Garment and Leather Workers Federation (ITGLWF), the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia were all surveyed to reveal that not one of them paid a living wage to their workforce. Many did not even pay the legal minimum wage. Many agree that there are three main problems with sweatshops; long hours, low pay and very unsafe work conditions. For what has been seen in many reports these are major issues and what the fight is really about. China Labor Watch (CLW) recently released a investigation they conducted on four major apparel factories in China that were not in compliance with the Chinese labor and human rights laws. The factories still enforced long hours, with addition of mandatory overtime hours. They also were paid an hourly wage of .48 cents an hour. Extensive researching has been done by many agencies to bring the facts that large companies try to hide. There's always two sides to everything even when it comes to an issue of this magnitude. .
Why does the image of an Indonesian sewing sneakers for .60 cents an hour evoke so much more feeling than the image of another indonesian earning the equivalent of .30 cents an hour trying to feed his family on a tiny plot of land?.
