Growing up, I always knew I wanted to help others. I also knew I wanted to work in the legal and governmental realm. It was my life's intention to be an attorney. My undergrad courses introduced me to the wide range of careers and professions that existed within my realm of choice that reached beyond my career goal. This knowledge has caused me to pursue a career within human services. My specialization of choice is criminal justice. Because human services range reaches so far, I am unable to pinpoint a particular career goal. However, I am sure that I want to work with underprivileged people. Therefore, my current studies are pertinent to me pursuing a profession within the human services sphere.
Professional and Academic Background .
I currently hold a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. During my undergraduate studies, I interned for a US Congressman. The internship allowed me the opportunity to obtain employment in the congressional office as an office manager. My parents are founders of a non-profit organization that serves substance abuse and street violence victims. I have been able to work with the first hand in jail facility workshops, inner city feedings, inner city school supply issuances, gun buy backs, etc. I have worked alongside them for years as they worked closely with the city and county governments, police and sheriff departments, and halfway homes to service our community. In 2006, I went to work in a large real estate firm's legal department as a paralegal. I am currently employed with the local county's board of education. I have been employed with the board of education for a total of five years. I also work as an instructor for Barbizon Modeling Institute.
