Christian Theology - Eternal Security

These words make it clear that God will carry us no matter what happens. Any evil that causes us to falter or any temptation that leads us astray is no match for the love of God. As these verses lead one to believe in God's almighty power, they also lead one to trust in his ever saving hand. Another verse that is often stated by those within in this view is said by Paul in 1st Peter 1:4-5. He states, "An inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for (us), who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time". Anyone siding to this view sees these words from both David and Paul as clearly meaning God takes all responsibility on the matter of salvation and no matter what short fall occurs through our mere human abilities God will not abandon, nor will he let those within the body of Christ lose their place in his kingdom. .
The final theme that is speculated on is God's life. This view holds that God has already given believers eternal life. That salvation is seen as an everlasting gift. This is recognized in the Old Testament. In Jeremiah, the Lord makes this clear as he states, "I will make an everlasting covenant with (my people), never to draw back from doing good to them; and I will put the fear of me in their hearts, so that they may not turn from me" (Jer. 32:40). This everlasting gift as stated is an everlasting covenant between God and believers. He keeps us even though we do not keep him. He upholds this covenant no matter what injustice. The eternal nature of salvation is as God's life is eternal. Jesus teaches us this in John 5:24; 3:36, "anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life". This view takes eternal life as something that has already been given, not something that will be attained after death. Believers should not keep eternal life as a future hope, something that has not been given.
