When it comes to gun control and gun violence, the United States of America has a serious situation. Because over the years there has been many serious shooting incidents, and therefore has the issue of gun control been very much debated. The states is probably the number one well-armed nation on our planet, when there are around 310 million registered firearms in civilian circulation, and the US has currently a population approx. 316 million. 1 And around ten thousand Americans citizens are killed every year because of incidents with firearms. .
Americans has to easy access to firearms, they can be purchased in gun shops or other shops with a license to sell firearms. And all you need is identification and a letter from the police saying that you could buy a gun, an authorization. And some Americans even believe that it is their birthright to own a firearm, and they think that it is important, because keeping a loaded gun in the their house for protection, makes them feel much more safe. And according to the time magazine 49% of the households in United States actually have a gun, and most of them for protection. And all these guns have the potential to be threatening and dangerous at some point, therefore should all of them be handled with caution and should be stored in a locked firearm safe. A majority of these guns are mostly used for self-defense, hunting, law enforcement, amusement at the shooting range, and other usages. But sadly some of the other uses, could be, for instance: taking a human life or something like armed robbery. Therefore a majority of people in the United States of America believes that the U.S needs a much stricter gun law. .
The U.S government has placed some gun control laws, but most of the laws were made to make the general public feel safer in their everyday lives. For instance: the government prohibited a handful of assault weapons, and these weapons are very rarely used in shooting incidents.
