The Independence of Palestine


            In the 21st century, more and more countries in the Middle East, even the world, are concerned about the status of Palestine. The world debates a lot about whether the United Nations should reconsider Palestine as an independent country. Some countries say that Palestine may regain its own power for putting Palestinians' safety in consideration. While some countries say that Palestine has no rights to become a legal country as Palestinians create terrorism. If Palestinians do not get the support from the United Nations to recreate their own country, they may not only bring damage to the Middle East area, but they may also spread the danger around the world. .
             Palestinians have felt injustice and unfairness from the United Nations partition plan of dividing Palestine into two states in 1947. Moreover, Palestinians have always wanted to take back their land that they had lost since the Arab-Israeli War in 1948. (Stock) The Palestinians have lived in Palestine for a period of time, and even their ancestors had lived in for hundreds of years, while the Israelis have only lived in Palestine for less than thirty years (Bickerton and Klaussner 81). The United Nations tried to solve the land problem by proposing a partition plan, which Palestinians could only get 45% of their own homeland, while Israelis could get 55% of Palestinians' homeland (Bickerton and Klaussner 83).
             Although Palestinians had a strong mind to protect their homeland, they failed to change. The Palestinian military lacked organization, so even after Israelis announced themselves own Israel, Palestinians could not take immediate action (Gale Encyclopedia of U.S. History: War). The United Nations built the future for Palestine without getting the opinions from the indigenous Palestinians. The United Nations tended to favor Israelis, because Israelis got support from the United States at that time.
