Requiring Music Education in Primary Schools

Many slaves from around the world kept their culture alive by singing and tapping many different African tunes. Music allowed them to express their dying need for freedom and could sometimes be used to spread a message of hope across the country to other slaves. Some of the slave revolts may never have happened if music wasn't around to encourage other slaves.
Music was also used to spread ideas of enlightenment through the western countries. During the period of enlightenment, music had grown to become popular within the church and community. It was used to spread ideas of Christianity and to spread the values of the European nation. History has, however, affected music as much as music has affected history. The effects of the French Revolution on European music were as vast and immeasurable as its effects on European life. "For example, when the royal guard became the National Guard, its musicians found themselves unprovided for by the new statutes. After merging with the Royal School of Singing and Declamation, they became the faculty of a new 'free music school'" (Weiss and Taruskin).
This is just one example of how history has affected music out of many occasions. Music has helped to start new schools and programs throughout history. Without music, some of our most esteemed schools would not exist today. Looking at this data that has been put out so far, the question is, why are primary schools getting rid of music education? One of the main reasons is money. Money seems to be the reason for everything in today's society. Money is used as an excuse for many things and mankind does not think about the consequences of its actions when relating to money. Money is the fuel of our economy, but when the there are money cuts for schools; the first thing cancelled is the music education.
Music education is seen as less important than math or science and therefore is seen as less important when schools decided how to solve their financial crisis.
