The Relationship of MacBeth and Lady MacBeth

After the deed is done we see their relationship put to an even greater test than before. MacBeth appears with the daggers that killed Duncan in his hands but he is not smiling with victory, he is deeply troubled by what he has done, distressed by the noises and visions he'd seen and panicking about the murder itself. This changes our view of MacBeth's character slightly as up until now we have known him as a brave soldier that was capable of cutting a man "from the nave to th' chops " but he is now faced with terrifying guilt about killing Duncan which only emphasises the true evil of the deed he has committed. Lady MacBeth however does not share our sympathy with MacBeth, although she persuaded him to commit murder she is not accepting of the trembling mess he has become because of it. In this scene we also see "my dearest partner in greatness " and "my love " exchanged for "partner ".
Once MacBeth had been made King we would've expected the problems to be minimal but of course they were not. We are shown once again that their relationship is deteriorating when Lady MacBeth needs to make an appointment to see her own husband "Say to the King, I would attend his leisure for a few words " When the two are finally together Lady MacBeth asks her husband "Why do you keep alone " this shows us the with his role as King of Scotland, MacBeth has taken to isolate himself from Lady MacBeth. However when he admits he is worried about everything he has done, Lady MacBeth comforts him showing that there is still love and affection in this relationship even if it is slowly falling apart. he goes on to call her "Dearest chuck " but this could be seen as just a way to push her away from the fact he is planning the murder of Banquo and Fleance without her, which is strange as she was the driving force behind the murder of Duncan.
In the Banquet scene a lot about MacBeth and Lady MacBeth's relationship is revealed.
