Beauty myth is when someone become more involved with their looks than with anything else in life. The beauty myth is more common within the female, especially within their teenage years. A few of the most common things that you will hear about within teenage years is a zit on the face, being overweight, the appearance of their hair or their nails not being done. Teenagers would rather recieve an "F" grade rather than go to school and let someone see them not looking their best.
Appearance and sexual availability has a big impact on girls. lack of beauty, rather it has to deal with hair, nails, figure, etc., will cause the female to withdraw herself from certain activities. Girls will put their life on lhold or not do the things that other kids do their age because of appearance.
The beauty myth does not only deal with the females, but with the males as well. There are somey males that will act the same as females when it comes to looking their best. Adults play a major role in kids and their appearance. Although it may ;not be the right thing to do, but some parents will show more interest with their better looking child than with their less better looking child. Although all kids are beautiful, all kids are not told or treated as if they are beautiful or equal to the next child.
The beauty myth fairness is not only within the home, but at school especially. Whatever the girls do the boys can do as well and the girls can do whatever it is that the boys do. Some teachers will have the kids to line up according to their gender, which shouldn't be. The boys and the girls can combine into one line, rather it's boy, girl, boy, girl category. some teachers will even ask that the boys play over here and the girls play over there, when they can and should all play together as one. Schools should not be able to allow girls and boys to answer education questions to determine who will be dismisssed for lunch first or whol will be able to go home first, as they do in some school, still today in some DeSoto County Schools.
