It also indicates its breath "worldwide condition- (Surius, 1995). A justification for conducting the study was also indicated "approximately 50% of all chronically ill adolescents show poor compliance- (LaGreca, 1990). The problem statement as a whole identifies a problem in need of improvement.
The purpose of the inquiry was clearly defined as "describing the health regimen compliance of adolescents with asthma and factors associated with it-. (Kyngãs, 1999, pg 195). This statement clearly identifies the population of interest "adolescents with asthma-, the dependent variable "compliance with health regimens-, and the independent variables "the associated factors- (Kyngãs, 1999, pg 195). The purpose statement establishes the general direction of the study. .
Clarity and Relevance of the Statement of Significance of the Research. .

LaGreca (1990), Michauf et al (1991), Bosley et al (1995) and Adams et al (1997) support this statement as their studies have shown that approximately "50% of all chronically ill adolescents show poor compliance-. Previous studies have also indicated "asthma is the leading cause of paediatric inpatients- (Welsh, 1999). This article highlights the significance of the study in terms of statistics and the needs of the society.
One of the primary concerns when considering the relevance and significance of a research problem is whether it has the potential to generate or refine relevant knowledge for nursing practice. In regards to compliance with health regimens then that answer is yes. If health care professionals are aware of those areas in which adolescents are non-compliant and the reasons behind it, then nurses will be better equipped to assist in combating these problems.
