Out of all the five names and titles of Jesus I find the Son of Man and the Salvation to be most helpful. The Son of Man has shown me that Jesus understands me and knows what I am going through, making it easier to come to Him. Salvation shows me that he loves me enough to deliver me and make me free from bondage. However, I find Jesus as the Word to be the least helpful, because I cannot relate it as well. .
The Spread of the Church .
Jesus last appearance as the living resurrected told the apostles after they receive the power of the Holy Spirit they would spread the Good News starting in Jerusalem then Judea and then to the ends of the earth. On the day of Pentecost all the believers were filled with the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus promised (Acts 2:1). The Spirit's wisdom, energy, and power were the driving force behind the church's work and witness (Act 2:14-41; 4:31).
Peter was the first leader of the new church and preached several sermons proclaiming the Good News. His first sermon about 3,000 believers were added to the church and then his second about 5,000 (Acts 2:41; 4:4) He filled all of Jerusalem with the teachings about Jesus and the believers greatly increased (Acts 5:28; 6:7). Then Stephen a preacher was arrested on false charges for blasphemy. Stephens' response to the accusations was a long speech that proved his innocents but exposed the accusers' guilt. The Jewish leaders, who were enraged, stoned him to death. Thus become the church's first martyrdom, which lead to persecution of Christians led by Saul. As a result most of the believers scattered to Judea and Samira, helping spread the Good News. .
Saul, the persecutor, was on his way to arrest more Christians when he was blinded by a light from heaven and Jesus spoke from heaven: "Saul, Saul! Why are you persecuting me?.I am Jesus the one you are persecuting " (Acts 9:4-5). This experience changed Saul forever and the church.
