Home-style Hotels which was formed after the merger of Lifestyle Resorts and Home-Aways' was now regarded as one of the larger chains across North America. Although the company possibly made many financial gains as a result of this merger; however, one lingering issue continued to remain. Which is, the integration of the system both companies use prior to the merger. .
It is important to integrate the systems between Lifestyle and Home-Away even if it is across different lines of business. By integrating the system it would be easier for upper management to keep a check on every aspect of the business at all its hotels. Furthermore, by integrating the systems, management can learn about what both companies have to offer, and thereby choose the best options available from both companies. A uniformed/streamlined system all throughout the company helps create a better national brand for the company as well. Hence, customers are getting the same type of service and experience at all Home-style locations across the country. Some of the things I would recommend to integrate include things like the HR system, pricing system also, a similar system where management could access how each location is performing. For example: I used to work at Well Fargo, around the time when Wells Fargo had merged with Wachovia Bank. Both banks had entirely different systems. All aspects of the business, which included sales/service protocols, teller system, and banker's system, were different. Eventually, with the merger, all Wachovia employees had to integrate Wells Fargo's way of doing business. Ultimately, after a few hiccups, it all worked out and customers visiting a Wells Fargo location can expect the same type of service and experience at all their locations. Similarly, if I were to go to a Holiday Inn, as a customer I would expect the same type of service at all their locations.
